Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Meluri block, Phek conducted various programmes like demonstrations, trainings, mobilisation of farmer groups and field day on citrus cultivation, de-worming of pig and cabbage nursery bed preparations from January 23 to 25 at Kukhegwo, Akhegwo and Meluri village respectively.
Resource persons apprised farmers on the importance of good seed bed preparation of both potato and cabbage cultivation and added that proper weed management, earthing, optimum sowing time and spacing were crucial for good harvest.
Meanwhile, the field day was conducted in the fields of Kukhegwo and Meluri village.
Various steps on making organic growth regulator panchagavya which makes use of only products of cow was explained to the farmers. The importance and procedure for making organic pesticide “chilli garlic paste extract” was also imparted.
The farmers were trained by resource persons ATM Meluri block, Kelvin Khamo, ATM Meluri block, Khriebelie Pienyu and BTM, Meluri block, Ekonthung Odyuo. Kaji SHG and Nachujih SHG of Kukhegwo Village were also established.
WOKHA: ATMA Wokha block conducted a “field day on banana cultivation” at Longsa Village on January 23 with BTT Convenor, Zuthunglo Erui as resource person.
Zuthunglo Erui explained in detail the concept of field day to the farmers and stressed on the benefit of cultivating banana like making banana chips. She also briefed on the fertility of the soil to cultivate banana with less labour and good source of income and profit.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by ATM Wokha Elilo Kikon, while farmers expressed on how ATMA had helped them and further appealed to the department for support in the future as well. A total number of 16 farmers attended the programme.
