Rijiju, Zeliang, Ram Madhav pay homage to late Penmi

Thousands of people paid last respect to late Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of BJP legislator Mmhonlumo Kikon, at the funeral service held at the private residence of Mmhonlumo near Tolouvi village on Monday. Late Penmi passed away on January 28 at Zion hospital Dimapur after a brief illness. She leaves behind her husband and two daughters.
According to DIPR, the funeral service was attended by union minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, state chief minister T.R. Zeliang and host of ministers, parliamentary secretaries, advisors and well wishers.
Extending sympathies to the bereaved family, the union minister prayed for peaceful departure of the departed soul. Rijiju also describing the journey of life to be full of uncertainties, and opined that during the limited journey of life, one has to value life with love and compassion.
T.R.Zeliang recalled the times where late Apen (as lovingly called by friends and family) regularly attended church service at CMs banquet hall and found her to be a promising God fearing woman who could have rendered so much of services to the state, if not for her untimely demise.
He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace.
In his tearful farewell speech, Mmhonlumo Kikon, husband of late Apen, described her late wife as the one and only love of his life.
Kikon said he was deeply sad and could not accept the reality that she would leave him so soon at such a young age. He described his late wife as a gentle soul, patient, loving, caring, his best friend, counsellor and tower oh his strength. “From human reason point of view I cannot comprehend and though God has His own plans I still say it’s not fair” Kikon said. Visibly emotional, Mmhonlumo however promised to her late loving wife that he would march ahead with the visions they had together. He added” I will miss her dearly and her absence would be irreplaceable and deeply felt.” He thanked all for sparing their time to pay their last respect to his beloved wife.
Condolence message from others including Nagaland governor P.B.Acharya were read during the funeral service. Friends of late Apen, family members, Lotha Hoho, representatives from Tangkhul community and many others in their speeches reflected the memories and cherished the life of the departed soul.
