CNCCI seeks relief measures for business community

Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) appealed to the State government to come up with certain relief measures for the business community in distress.

In a memorandum to chief minister Neiphiu Rio, CNCCI comprising all district chambers of commerce and industry (confederates) said the community was in distress as almost all kinds of trade, barring essential commodities, had come to a halt for over a month now.

The memorandum stated that the business community was facing two kinds of problem, the first being difficulty in paying rents for their shop and godown spaces. Secondly, those having cash credit (CC) facility with banks were facing great difficulty as interests were compounding.

It also warned that many business houses having their stocks hypothecated to banks dealing in goods with short shelf-life would face massive losses if the lockdown was stretched further till May

Under the circumstances, CNCCI urged the chief minister to announce some relief measures for the business community too on the lines he had announced for various sections of people in distress. It requested him to take up the issue with utmost seriousness. The trade body on behalf of all its confederates assured full cooperation and support as the State continued to battle the COVID-I9 pandemic.

Mentioning that the business community was trying its best to live up to its responsibilities and had been playing an active role in all districts as core members of district task forces and assisting the administration of various districts in every possible manner, the memorandum said the confederates were actively involved in humanitarian works, assisting the society and government agencies in all possible manner.

The memorandum was signed by CNCCI chairman Dr Khekugha Muru and general secretary Dr Seyievilie Mor.
