Cement prices revised

Hardware Merchants’ Association Dimapur (HMAD) has revised rates of various cement brands. The new rates were fixed at an emergency meeting of the association held at its office here on Wednesday. The development followed HMAD lodging a complaint with the authority on Tuesday after it received complaints of price hike from cement buyers.

Accordingly, the revised rate of Dalmia and Star brands is Rs 470 per bag, Rs 460 for Topcem and Rs 450 for others brands (inclusive of loading charges).
HMAD president K Denis in a release said the revised rates would be effective during the lockdown period only, adding that these would be nullified as and when the lockdown was lifted. It also specified that the new rates would be applicable only for new stocks and not old stocks procured prior to the lockdown. It stated that the rates had been revised keeping in view the Home ministry’s directive for limited production.
Mentioning that it would keep a strict vigil on regulation of the new rates, HMAD warned that stern action would initiated against any agency found not adhering to the revised rates. It was also decided to  invite all cement brands interested in marketing their products in Dimapur and the state to discuss the rates for the upcoming days after the lockdown was lifted.
The association declared that it would monitor transportation cost after lockdown was lifted. The meeting discussed problems faced by transporters and it was resolved that all transporters would be affiliated to the association to assist in transporting cement.
