
Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) dispatched a quick response team from Fire Station Chümoukedima on receiving information of fire outbreak at 7th Mile, Mhasud Stone Crusher, Chümoukedima on May 1.
A press release from F&CS Chümoukedima stated that, the fire personnel reached the incident site where three fire tenders along with sufficient equipments and personnel rushed to the spot. The fire was contained within 40 minutes. Two kutcha houses to shelter the labourers were completely razed down, while property worth 10 lakhs approximately was lost in the fire incident. Timely intervention prevented fire from further spreading to adjoining areas. The release stated that the cause of fire was due to short circuit. Altogether 24 families (labourers) were affected but no casualty was reported. Response team was led by duty commander SI Kenyuyhun Kent and ASI Thangpong Khiamniungan.
