CPO reiterates resolution on plantation

Reiterating its resolution ‘Year of Tree Plantation’ adopted during the general session at Phek town on January 10, 2020, the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) requested every village authority to implement the resolution during the month of May with all seriousness by collecting locally available nursery plant for plantation. 

In a press release, CPO president Mikha Kenye and general secretary Veduvo Rhakho stated that CPO official programme was not possible at this moment, but added that inspection and numbers of tree planted by every village would be maintained for record. Stating that growing season of crops has started, the CPO maintained that every effort must be put to vigorously plant more crop with innovative method to harvest in abundance especially the farmers. It stated that every cultivable land that was left abandoned must be acquired and be brought for cultivation.

The organisation also called for strong and effective planning for economic sustainability both at the state and village level.

Expressing concern over COVID-19 pandemic, CPO said people were “infested with doubts, fear and crippled with anxiety even if the virus has not harm us.”

The organisations has, therefore, suggested that quarantine and Covid-19 dead body management guidelines needed to be thoroughly disseminated especially among the villagers to avoid creating the attitude of social ostracizing. CPO said that precautionary measures and advisories given by the government also needed to be strictly observed along with all the administrative directives and order.
