Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) would jointly organise a public dialogue on the issue of 147 contractual appointments to assistant professor and librarian posts at the AWO Building, Kohima on June 7 at 11 a.m.
Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, NNQF core member, Videkhono Yhokha, appealed to student organisations, concerned citizens and stakeholders to attend the programme. She stated that the initiative was not confrontational but intended to promote equal opportunity and raise questions regarding merit-based recruitment and transparency in public appointments.
Yhokha expressed hope that representatives from the concerned department would attend the event and provide clarification. She said the dialogue was open to all sections of society.
The organisers informed that the public dialogue would feature a panel comprising well-known figures in Naga civil society, including peace activist Niketu Iralu, retired professor G.T. Thong, and social activists Kahuto Chishi and Robert N. Solo, in addition to Yhokha and CTAN convenor Meshenlo Kath.
Kath clarified that the event was not a form of protest or a targeted campaign, but a platform to seek clarity and accountability from the authorities. He informed that a formal invitation had been sent to the department concerned as well as to the minister in charge.
Acknowledging reports that government order on the contractual appointments had been revoked, Kath, however, said the core issue remained unresolved as the 147 posts had not yet been requisitioned through the proper recruitment channels.
NNQF and CTAN reiterated their call for transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity in government appointments, urging citizens across the state to participate in the dialogue.
