In what it described as “a major breakthrough against extortion activities by undergrounds in Nagaland”, the Assam Rifles said it busted the “extortion module” of the Yuang Aung-led NSCN (K) from Old Showba, Nikheku and Thilixu village, Dimapur on June 27 and June 28 and apprehended three cadres.
According to PRO IGAR(N), the AR troops along with police representative, based on specific intelligence regarding presence of a underground cadres in general area, launched an operation and apprehended three cadres. The trio have been identified as Hoto Swu, PS of “brig” Akhao Zhimo, finance kilonser; “capt” Huto and “Leacy” Rolem of NSCN (K-YA).
PRO said one HK assault rifle with magazine, one point 22mm rifle, one SB rifle, one grenade, two pistols, assorted ammunition and extortion slips were recovered from the trio.
The cadres along with the seized items were handed over to Diphupar police station, PRO added.
