
Two-day online training on “women empowerment through agricultural entrepreneurship” was organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) for ATMA functionaries from July 23-24 at SAMETI, Medziphema.
A press release by SAMETI, Medziphema stated that in an inaugural speech, director SAMETI & principal IETC i/c, Dr. Watimongla Jamir gave a brief overview of women entrepreneurship and explained the important role played by women in society in general and agriculture in particular.
Resource persons for the training were assistant professor, department of rural development, NU: SASRD, Medziphema Dr. Mary N Odyuo and deputy project director SAMETI, Medziphema, Tiajungla Longchar. Topics on rural women empowerment through “agripreneurship”, issues and prospects; empowering women in agribusiness; role of women in agriculture and social & economic empowerment through agri & allied enterprises were covered during the training.
