4 out of 5 deaths due to COVID-19: H&FW

Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) department on Tuesday disclosed that out of five deaths reported in Dimapur, four had died due to COVID-19.

The department further said that one person who died at a paid quarantine centre in Dimapur had tested positive for COVID-19, but the death was not related to COVID.

In its daily bulletin, the department stated that 2 deaths were reported from Dimapur District Hospital, 1 at Nikos Hospital Dimapur, 1 at Medziphema CHC and 1 at a paid quarantine centre.

Meanwhile, Nagaland COVID-19 tally crossed the 1400-mark after 75 fresh COVID cases were detected from across the state on Tuesday.

The tally as on July 28 stood at 1460– 878 active, 577 recovered and 5 deaths (4 deaths due to COVID and 1 positive, but not due to COVID).

Of the 75 new cases detected from 450 samples, 51 were reported from Kohima, 10 in Phek, 7 in Wokha, 3 each in Mon and Dimapur and 1 in Tuensang.

As per the severity of symptoms, 875 active cases were asymptomatic, 2 mild and 1 moderate case.

Till July 28, 22,392 samples were sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 20,706 samples received. Out of 15,343 samples received at the BSL-3 (NHAK), 13,603 were samples tested out of which 981 were positive. 

In addition, 15,277 samples were sent for testing through TrueNat where 528 tested positive and sent for confirmation by RT-PCR.

A total of 2,500 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.”
