CEO holds meeting with political parties in Kohima

Chief electoral officer (CEO), Nagaland held a meeting with all political parties in the state at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on October 1, in view of the announcement of schedule of by-election by the ECI to fill up casual vacancy in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14 Southern Angami I (ST) A/C and 60 Pungro Kiphire (ST) A/C.

According to DIPR report, the CEO and his team of officials briefed the representatives of the political parties about the broad guidelines issued by ECI for conducting elections during COVID-19, the various provisions of election expenditure monitoring, the enforcement of MCC, about EVMs/VVPATs, and several other pertinent issues connected with the conduct of the by-elections. Various IT initiatives taken by the Commission was also highlighted in the meeting. CEO also informed about the special summary revision of electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date. Representatives from BJP, INC, NDPP, NPF, NPP, JD(U), RPI(A) were present in the meeting.
