
Musik-A, also known as Alobo Naga School of Music, inaugurated its new branch of Music School at Chümoukedima, on October 10, by advisor, Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Theja Meru.
Addressing the small gathering during the inaugural, Theja congratulated Alobo Naga for establishing his new branch and hoped that the school would play a tremendous role in shaping music for the future. He also apprised Alobo Naga as the biggest music export to the world.
Meanwhile, in an interview, Meru claimed that even though the pandemic posed great challenges to all, music industry in Nagaland had been playing great role in trying to sensitise and share peace in the state. He said there had been many initiatives in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc., where artistes have been live streaming their music, bringing joy and peace to many.
Further, he also pointed out several who have achieved tremendous success in music during the pandemic, and acknowledged them for bringing laurels to the state. They are Arenlong Longkumer, winner Strandberg India Guitar contest, Arialie Angami, “6 feet apart contest” by Henning Pauley, wining an Ibanez guitar, Jonathan and Pelenuo making it to top 5 of Nexa Music, etc.
He maintained that the pandemic was a moment of pride and productivity for Naga musicians, in brushing up their musical creativity and adding more skills to their music.
Furthermore, Meru added that TaFMA, during the pandemic has collaborated with several artistes and initiated digital concerts, and also a music video collaborating with ten singers from ten countries with the John Lennon song, under the title “one world, one song with friends of Nagaland”.
While TaFMA has already singed MoU with “V Rock Festival”, one of the biggest music festival in Russia, Meru informed that TaFMA was currently trying to sign MoUs with several music institutes and festivals all over the world.
Earlier, Alobo Naga, in his welcome speech, stated that he got the vision to open up a music school in Nagaland, when he was out in Hong Kong doing a show. Pastor, Town Baptist Church Chümoukedima, Sazo Kire offered the inaugural prayer. It may be noted that Musik-A school will be offering free admission for the year 2020 on classes for piano, violin, drums, music theory, Kinder Musik-A (4-12 years), guitar, bass, and voice.
