Weighing bridge to be operational from Sep 10

In order to address the overloaded trucks plying along Dimapur-Kohima road, which leads to frequent standing and stoppage of traffic, the weighing bridge at Inter-State Truck Terminus (ISTT) 7th Mile Chumukedima, Dimapur would be made operational with effect from September 10, 2020.

In an office order, the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan has, therefore, directed all upbound (Kohima route) goods-laden vehicles to undergo weigh test and obtain weight compliance slip with effect from September 10, 2020 onwards and only on production of the same they would be allowed to go upto Kohima.

Certain categories of vehicle such as Tankers, Truck ferrying FCI goods, Trucks used for Central/State Project Work, Trucks engaged in four-lane/National Highway Project, Railway works and Trucks engaged for local duties within Dimapur would be exempted from obtaining the weight compliance slip.

Further, DC notified that overloading would not be allowed and the vehicle load carrying capacity would be as per the registered payload/GWV mentioned in the vehicle registration certificate. DC said the process would be strictly followed, adding that it would be the responsibility of the concerned vehicle owners to remove the access load and transport the same out of ISTT leaving no goods behind at ISTT premises.

DC also cautioned that overloading by any goods vehicle would be liable to attract punitive action under the relevant section of the MV Act.
