C. L. John, MLA, encouraged people to make use of morung in today’s generation for training and decision making in the field of peace and prosperity.
A press release by Chen Union Aboi Town (CUAT) stated that, John said this in his address as chief guest during the inauguration of CUAT Paan (morung) on December 28 at Aboi town. John recalled how the pioneers had sacrificed and faced hardships and under their guidance, one could come so far. John reminded that in the olden days, the forefathers built morung for training and also for any kind of decision making for society or village. He expressed gratitude to CUAT for their hard work and successful completion of the morung. John also expressed his appreciation to the surrounding villages, area leaders for rendering support and cooperation to CUAT in this milestone achievement. He also said that Aboi town was in the middle of Konyak land, which was very fertile and thus urged the people to work hard. Morung was dedicated by Rev. Yeangphong, pastor ATBC.
Eshak, MLA, who was also present congratulated the union as such a morung was the first in Aboi town, thereby setting good example of unity to the people. Yemwang Ahng, Chenmoho urged the people to cooperate with neighbours, fear God and live a peaceful life. Short speeches were also delivered by Pangao KU president Aboi, TP Pongyao president KU Chen, Wangshok president KVCU Chen block, Shakwang Ahng, Langmeing.
C. L. John also released the morung booklet, which was dedicated by Rev. Yeangphong, pastor ATBC. Welcome address was delivered by M. Tahkei Walim, president Chen Union Aboi, special song by Lemwang & Shaboh, log drum beating by Ngangching, cultural dance by Chaoha Union Aboi town and cultural song by Chen Yikyalan.
