BJP Kisan Morcha supports farmers

Virtually kicking off a year-long development activity, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a “Farmer’s day out programme” at Amisuba valley, Longjang village under Mokokchung district on January 6.

A press release from the party stated that Amisuba valley on the banks of the Mening river has been recognized as one of the most fertile areas in the district where the farmers can earn their own livelihood through their own cultivation.

BJP Mokokchung, Kisan Morcha collaborated with officials from different government agencies like the Agriculture and Water Resource departments in organising the programme.

During the programme, BJP Mokokchung district president, Imolemba Jamir, highlighted on the importance of farming in the Naga economy. Being an agriculturalist, Imoleemba exhorted the prospective farmers to look beyond the village, and cultivate the vegetables so that the farmers can export it to other different places even beyond our state.

Adding to that, BJP vice president, Nukshi I. Ozukum also challenged the farmers to look beyond farming. He said farmers were the most respected and vital pillars of the society and encouraged them to look beyond the local markets.

SDO Water Resources Department, Putikokba, who was the resource person of the day, highlighted about the importance of conserving water in the valley. He also assured that that the government would extend all possible support to the farmers.  The programme was attended by officials from the BJP Mokokchung district.
