SVC holds meeting; adopts resolutions

Samziuram village public held an emergency general meeting on January 4 at council hall and adopted a three-point resolution. A press release by Samziuram Village Council (SVC) head GB, Hingtung Chawang and chairman, Ramheu M Pame stated that the house deliberated on reports of illegal claim/survey/sale of land by some outsiders within Samziuram village jurisdiction/areas being developed by Samziuram villagers (bounded by south-veterinary land, West-Jalukieram village, West-Jalukie Sangtam village, East- Jalukielo village and Chuhaureu River). In this connection, the house firmly resolved to protect the Village Land at any cost from all form of illegal encroachment/claimed by outsiders, and further resolved to impose complete ban on sales of land/trespassing without proper verification by the village authority. Any person buying land from unauthorized person will be doing so at his/her own risk. 

The house also had threadbare discussion on the village land and its resources, and resolved to affirm that the land being developed by Samziuram villagers, and its resources, be it above or beneath the earth, belongs to Samziuram village alone, hence outsiders would not be allowed to make any illegal claim or exploit under any circumstances Further, the house resolved to impose total ban on any form of hunting/fishing/unauthorised exploitation of its wildlife and forest product by outsiders.
