
Two-day 13th annual general conference of Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) under the theme “triumph over difficulties (Deuteronomy 20:4)” was held from January 9 to 10 at its mission centre Singrijan, Dimapur.
A press release by the organisers stated that, the conference was hosted by seven Nepali/Gorkha Baptist churches comprising of NBC Chümoukedima, NBF Razaphe, GBC Kikhruruzha, GBC Lotovi, GBC Niuland, GBC Singrijan, GBC Zuheshe & GBC Yeveto, wherein academic dean, Servanthood Bible College Dimapur Obed Rai was the worship speaker.
With more than 80 delegates due to COVID-19 restrictions, 42 out of 50 affiliated Gorkha churches took part in the conference.
On the opening day, executive secretary, K Santabir Rai, AGBCN unfurled the association’s flag followed by hoisting of respective church flags.
Angami president, DABCC, Rev. K.N. Kele shared greetings, while council chairman, AGBCN, Tek Gurung shared greetings on the last service.
Meanwhile, a business session was also held including reports of various departments including the church & mission, women, youth, resource & development and pastors’ fellowship, presented by respective secretaries and chairman.
Obed Rai shared on the importance on maintaining the spirit of brotherhood and to extend help to each other in times of need.
Selection of new AGBCN board members for the tenure 2021-2023 was also conducted. Besides the devotion and prayer services, the conference was marked by bidding farewell to outgoing leaders of different department under AGBCN.
Earlier, AGBCN staff & council lauded the efforts of eight churches together in hosting the conference which saw around 100 delegates from 42 affiliated Nepali and Gorkha Baptist churches and fellowships across Nagaland.
