State govt mulls to build civil helipads in all districts

The State government was aiming to build civil helipads in all districts very soon. This was announced by Transport, Civil Aviation & Land Resources minister, P Paiwang Konyak while inaugurating the first civil helipad of Zunheboto district Monday. 

Paiwang said that while civil helipads in Wokha and Zunheboto districts had been completed, the helipad in Tizit sub-division was due for inauguration and the one in Mokokchung district would be opened on August 15, 2021.

He also spoke about the completion of helipads at interior places of Kohima district and the project of the State government in building an exclusive civil heliport at Dimapur too.

Despite the challenges posed by local weather conditions, he said chopper services of the State would be of 1,200 hours of flying. He said, unlike other States, the PDA government was providing twin engine choppers keeping in mind the safety of the passengers.

Referring to the condition of State government’s passenger transport vehicles, the minister informed that gathering that talks were on with the Centre for improving NST bus services in the State.
