USSC demands science and commerce stream

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) Kiphire has demanded for immediate introduction of Science and Commerce stream in Kiphire district.

In a representation to the principal secretary of School Education, USSC vice president Sethrongba Y Sangtam and general secretary, Selicho Sangtam stated that most of the government schools in other districts have arts, science and commerce stream respectively, whereby the aspiration district Kiphire was devoid of the above mentioned facilities.
The student body claimed that the proposal for introduction of science and commerce stream was discussed and approved during the special cabinet meeting held in Kiphire on November 9, 2018 but was yet to be materialised.
USSC went on to state that despite being ignored by the government, the students, teachers and parents have strived in giving their best efforts, as a result the district could produce top 1 position in HSSLC exam in recently declared NBSE result 2020 from Loyola Higher Secondary School Kiphire.
USSC stated that most of the talented students wish to pursue further studies in science and commerce stream at their native dwelling but due to lack of facility in the district and financial constraint they opted for arts stream.
In this regard, the USSC urged the responsible authority to look into the genuine demand for the welfare of students’ community on priority basis and immediately implement it without any further delay in view of necessity of the situation.
