38th OKM conference held in Mokokchung

The 38th Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM) conference, under the theme “Holistic development” was inaugurated, Thursday, by the deputy commissioner, Limawabang Jamir as the chief guest at town hall.

While delivering his speech, Limawabang Jamir acknowledged and lauded the noble initiatives of OKM to preserve one’s “mother tongue”, through the various “mother tongue competitive activities”, for the past years. He asserted that it was vital to preserve the indigenous languages which were gradually dying around the world.

Limawabang further called upon the students’ community to be smart, cultured and God fearing and be self reliant. He said that the present world demands doing away with the 3 Rs and move forward with the 4Cs, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and communication to survive in this modern world.

Earlier. short speeches were delivered by Ongpangkong Mungdang president, Tsuktimerenen and Ongpangkong Mungdang Watsu president, Talichula and the 38th OKM souvenir book was released by Limawabang, initiated by souvenir convenor, Aso Imsong.

The inaugural programme was chaired by the OKM officers, where welcome note was delivered by OKM president Talitemsu, scripture reading and prayer was said by Kumlong Baptist Church associate pastor women, Rachel.
