Two new sub-centres at Chendang Saddle and Washu village were inaugurated by CMO, Tuensang Dr. I Moatemjen Jamir on January 27.
A press release by the organisers stated that, Dr. I Moatemjen said that Chendan Saddle was located at a strategic location (Tri-junction of Noklak, Shamator & Tuensang) and therefore the health centre was very important to cater to medical emergency services in the area.
He advised the village council to demarcate the area of health centre, make proper affidavit of land gift deeds and submit one copy to the CMO office as early as possible.
He further instructed village leaders to discourage the private settlement near the health centre to prevent land encroachment issues in the future.
CMO also requested the council to plan for temporary staff quarter until the official quarter was set up, since it was difficult for health staff to get a rental house in the village.
Stating that development and placement of health staff for sub-centre would come in phase wise, he said that development from the government usually takes longer due to formal procedure.
In this regard, he appealed to the community not to wait for government alone but to take ownership and assist in basic development wherever possible such as building a kitchen, temporary toilets, wiring, temporary water connection to enable the health centre to start functioning.
He gave his assurance in assisting the village people in any possible way to develop the health centre from the government side.
