ATMA Akuluto block organizes demonstration prog

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Akuluto block organized demonstrations on the topic “Introduction of Knol khol as a commercial crop” and “Handling of maize shellers for small scale farmers” on January 29 at VK Town.

A press release from ATMA Zunheboto Akuluto block, stated that ATM 
Kaiho Achumi and BTM Akuluto block, Tsuktilemla were the resource person. A total of 15 farmers attended the programme. The programme was followed by an interaction with farmers on maize sheller and seeds distribution.
Meanwhile, ATMA Akuluto block conducted two demonstrations on January 27, at orange farm school, Alaphumi village under the topics “Demonstration on cultivation practices of French bean” and “Demonstration on cultivation practices of Coriander”. BTM Tsuktilemla stressed on the importance of both crops which plays and active role in any kitchen garden. She explained that French bean is one of the most important leguminous vegetable crops of North eastern region which is cultivated for the tender vegetable, shelled green beans and dry beans. It is very rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. French bean being a short duration crop, farmers get more profit in a short period. Besides, coriander an annual herb plant used as a spice in kitchen mostly grown for its fruit and green leaves to provide flavor in dishes. She further stated that these two crops can be commercially grown in the area and can also garner economic profits.
The programme was chaired by ATM Kaiho Achumi. A total of 11 farmers attended the demonstration.  The programme was followed by interactive session with farmers and seeds distribution.
