NPCC mourns passing away of VP

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed deep pain over the untimely demise of Jonathan Ao, NPCC vice president on Saturday. In a statement, NPCC communication department said Jonathan was undergoing treatment at GNRC Guwahati after suffering serious head injury in a road accident five days ago at Dimapur.

NPCC said his death has sent deep shock waves among party rank and file, as he was one among the few remaining diehard party loyalist who grew up from party’s youth wing and remained strongly rooted in the secular ideology and principles of the Congress till his last breath.

NPCC said Jonathan was an excellent orator and an indispensable asset for the party, who was loved by all irrespective of age, position and beyond party affiliation. NPCC president K Therie along with all Congress men and women extended heartfelt condolences to Mrs Lanuienla Lemtur and children and prayed that Almighty God grant them strength and solace in their hour of grief and for the departed soul to rest in peace.

According to family sources, the funeral service will be held on February 7 at 2.30 p.m.

Pharmacies to remain closed today in Dimapur

Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association has informed that all pharmacies will remain closed on February 7 in Dimapur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as a mark of respect and to mourn the demise of its former president Jonathan Ao.

NMDA expressed shock and mourned the sudden demise Jonathan Ao, who had made many contributions towards the medical business fraternity. His commitment towards the association and members will always be cherished, it said. NDMA conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them the strength to overcome the loss.
