NAF announces recipients of AMS scholarships

Naga American Foundation (NAF) has announced the recipients of its 2020-21 Aryo Shishak Memorial (AMS) Scholarships. 

A press release by its secretary, Justin Aier stated that the undergraduate recipients were Joanna Angumei (BM in Music Education, Emhurst University, Illinois) and Sophia Mozhui (BS, Business Administration, Pepperdine University, California), while recipients for the graduate level were Mathingmi Hongchui (MA, Christian Education, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas) and Khak Khak Khayi (MS, Biotechnology, Northwestern University, Illinois). 

This year’s pool of applicants were particularly competitive, comprising of undergraduate and graduate students pursuing extensive range of academic degrees and professional goals in institutions across the United States.

NAF congratulated the recipients and extended its appreciation to scholarship judges, Dr. Paul Pimomo, Dr. Ren Merry and Dr. Temsumongla Longkumer. It may be noted that Dr. Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships was named in honour of Dr. Aryo Shishak, an early pioneer of the NAF and former president and board member of the organisation. Dr. Shishak passed away on September 24, 2017. In October 2017, NAF announced renaming of its scholarships in memory of Dr. Shishak’s decades-long service to the NAF and Naga community in the US.
