4-lane: Patton directs NHIDCL to ensure public safety

State deputy chief minister and minister in-charge of roads & bridges, Y. Patton accompanied by adviser national highways, Dr. Longrineken on Saturday inspected the NH-29 four lane road construction site and took stock of the situation. 

According to a press note from Dy.CMO media cell, Patton took note of the rockslides that has caused immense hardships to commuters and affected the passage of essential commodities.

In this regard, Patton instructed the executive director of NHIDCL to ensure maximum public safety and quality workmanship. He also urged the public to understand the gravity of the technical and practical aspects, and urged all to extend their cooperation towards the ongoing mega project.

Dr. Longrineken, also briefed NHIDCL and department officials to maintain quality workmanship and to give priority on durability of the road. The advisor also directed NHIDCL officials for timely completion of the ongoing work.

Later, Patton also visited the by-pass road, to assess the condition and feasibility of the road from Dimapur to Kohima via 7th mile Khopanala and New Medziphema site under urban road (18.5 km stretch) which will be an alternative route, the media cell stated. 

During his interaction with the department officials at the proposed site, chief engineer (H) & Urban Engineering Wing, Er. Yanbemo Lotha stated that the repair and restoration work of the existing road had already began and assured to complete at earliest possible time.

Patton was also accompanied by advisor for CAWD & NSDMA, Kazheto Kinimi, E-in-C (NPWD), CE (NH) and CE (H) & Urban Engineering wing, DC Dimapur, Commissioner of Police Dimapur and department officials.
