CVYS bans jungle burning, hunting

Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has notified habitants and citizens around Chümoukedima village that activities such as hunting, jungle burning had been banned in the village area and possession of any type of guns would be seized with immediate effect from February 19.

A press release by the Chümoukedima Village Youth Society stated that defaulters caught in the act of igniting wildfires during hunting and cultivation would be dealt with stern actions and a penalty of Rs. 1 Lakh would be imposed as per the customary laws and standing resolutions.

Further, the union also informed that other illegal activities such as fishing, picnicking, unauthorised door to door business without legal papers, collecting wood, grazing herds without tenancy card, partying, littering, breaking of bottles along the river banks and loitering after 8 p.m. without genuine reasons would be strictly banned with penalty levied on permanent basis.

This was decided in order to conserve and keep the environment within the jurisdiction clean and safe.
