
Terming the State’s budget for 2021-22 as “visionary and path-breaking”, NDPP said the special impetus on infrastructure development, innovation, creativity and focus on youth empowerment was commendable and needed to be appreciated by all sections.
In a communiqué, the ruling party also lauded and congratulated chief minister Neiphiu Rio, who also holds finance portfolio, and the PDA government for having successfully passed the budget on February 19.
According to NDPP, the budget indicates that the government is constantly strategizing on new ideas and policies to usher in a new era of economic growth and employment generation. Even as the battle against COVID-19 pandemic continues, it added that the government has undertaken a herculean exercise in ensuring that all sectors were adequately covered by the budget.
The party expressed the confidence that the PDA government under the leadership of Rio would continue to deliver to the people justice, development and good governance despite the financial constraints the State is going through.
NDPP further appreciated and congratulated members of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) for unanimously passing the seven-point resolution on Naga political issue urging all Naga national groups to come together as one to bring about “one solution for one people” on February 18.
Mentioning that this spoke volume about the commitment of people’s representatives who rose above party politics in the greater interest of people, the party further appealed to all legislators to continue to stand united in pursuing an early settlement to the Naga political issue and, at the same time, ensuring that the resolution passed in the recently-concluded NLA session was taken up in letter and spirit.
NDPP also congratulated Assembly speaker Sharingain Longkumer for having successfully concluded the seventh session of NLA on the February 19. Though a first-time member of the NLA and young in age, the party said his command of the House and his conduct of the session was second to none.
“The Hon’ble Speaker needs to be appreciated for ensuring smooth proceedings inside the House and his unbiasedness in dealing with members of both benches. We wish him the very best in conducting the remaining sessions of NLA,” the statement added.
