CNC mourns demise of Rev. Dr. Sundquist

Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC) has expressed grief over the demise of former executive director of American Baptist International Ministries (IM), late Rev. Dr. John A. Sundquist, on February 21, 2021 at his home in Bethany Beach, Swayer, Michigan, USA.

In a condolence message, CNC general secretary, Ikato Chishi Swu, stated that late Rev. Dr. John A. Sundquist was a passionate missionary, peacemaker and a person who strived to “provide justice, liberty, and uplifting the downtrodden people like the Nagas”. CNC stated that in 1998, when “Naga people boycotted Indian election and opted for solution and not election, he took the initiative to write 6000 letters to churches around the world to pray and support the Naga issue”.

It also stated that he participated in Naga reconciliation meetings organised by Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR). CNC stated that his good deeds towards Nagas would always be cherished.

In his demise, CNC said that Nagas have lost a sincere supporter and a fervent prayer partner, adding that the vacuum created by his loss would be very hard to fill.

CNC, on behalf of all the Churches in Nagalim, conveyed its condolences to his family and prayed that the Lord grant them peace at a time of grief.
