Four-day training on “Web GIS and mobile application for monitoring and collection of field data under Nagaland Forest Management Project” was conducted from February 22 to 25, 2021. Dimapur hosted three forest divisions: Dimapur, Longleng, and Peren for the training.
The objective of the training was to improve the understanding of ground-level staff regarding collection of data with the help of a mobile app and to sensitise the key stakeholders on monitoring, evaluation through Web GIS portal.
On the closing day, DFO Dimapur and Longleng, Beizo Suokhrie presented his views on the use of GIS and remote sensing for monitoring purposes with the help of these applications.
He motivated and encouraged all the participants to understand and use these applications.
Meanwhile, a panel of experts including GIS Expert PMC NFMP, Anurag Verma, GIS Expert PMU NFMP, Limasanen Longkumer and GIS team members PMU NFMP, Subongchiten Jamir and Anamoa Imsong presented various modules of these applications and their uses.
A field visit to Thekrejuma Village was also organised on February 24 to monitor different works with the help of a mobile app. The experts discussed different modules of the Web GIS portal for evaluation and monitoring purposes and mobile application for easy and accurate collection of primary data.
It may be noted that the Web GIS portal and mobile application, designed at par with global standards are developed under the supervision of IFS project director (M&E and IM), Vedpal Singh, while the training programme was conceived by DPD- M&E &GIS, Samom Khelen Singh at PMU level.
The Web GIS portal and mobile application meet all the standards of remote sensing tool-based monitoring and evaluation of the works performed under NFMP project for forest conservation and economical development of the community.
