NEC acknowledges CIHSR’s quality service

North Eastern Council (NEC) has acknowledged the quality healthcare service provided by Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR).

Inaugurating the new modular operation theatre at CIHSR here on Friday, NEC secretary K Moses Chalai acknowledged the services rendered by the institute and for producing quality nurses from its nursing college, while praising the nurses for their approach, dedication and service. He requested CIHSR officials to share good inputs with the council.

NEC’s planning adviser C.H. Kharshiing, state additional development commissioner Nosazol Charles, Dimapur chief medical officer Dr Mereninla Senlem and CIHSR officials were present on the occasion.

Going around the facilities and interacting with the institute’s staff, Chalai called for speeding up the ongoing development work in the campus.

Mentioning that healthcare was one area that NEC focussed on and closely involved with, Chalai remarked that it was time to speed up economic activities by generating goods and services, including employment.

He said changes would come about rapidly and every sector would change for the better, including the health sector.

In his address, the NEC planning adviser said the council was aware of what CIHSR was doing not only for Nagaland, but also the entire North-eastern region. He remarked that all the North Eastern States have miles to catch up with other mainland States in the health sector, commenting “a lot still needs to be done”.

He said health sector was a big challenge for the country, especially for North-eastern States.

However, he assured that Government of India was looking into the issue in a favourable manner, with NEC keeping its focus on the sector.

Expressing his gratitude to NEC for its initiatives in the health sector in Nagaland, the additional development commissioner, who also spoke on the occasion, hoped the council would further augment the State’s health infrastructure, besides taking up development work in other sectors.

As NEC always playeda vital role in overall development, he claimed that the State government too fully supportedit.

Giving a power-point presentation during the programme, CIHSR director Dr Sedevi Angami explained that the institute’s objective was to transform itself into a centre of excellence in healthcare and yet remain affordable not only for Nagaland, but for the entire Northeast and country.

He said the vision of CIHSRwas to develop Christ-centred leadership in healthcare and transform community through compassion, innovation and excellence.

He said the institute currently had 200 beds for patients and 500 staff, adding that 6% of profit generated was given to charity.

Earlier, CIHSR medical superintendent Dr Clement Momin chaired the programme and gave the invocation, while deputy director (administration) Dr Viu Meru later delivered the vote of thanks.
