Helipong VGs celebrate 25th anniversary

Helipong Village Guards (VGs) celebrated its 25th anniversary on February 26 under the theme, “for peace we protect and we commit our lives for people” at Helipong village under Tuensang district, with public leader, P Bashang Chang as the chief guest. 

Speaking at the occasion, chief guest congratulated Helipong village guards for commemorating 25 years of its inception and stated that it was through the inclusive effort of all the stakeholders involved, that such a milestone has been achieved.
He appreciated the village guards for their service as guardians in maintaining congenial atmosphere in the village and community since insurgency.
Chang also encouraged citizens to be more unites for prosperity of the village.
Meanwhile, dedicatory prayer for newly constructed VG barrack and jubilee monolith was said by Pastor Helipong Baptist church, Yonkhonglimba while unveiling of monolith and barrack dedication was done by the chief guest.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by APY, Sangmei Tola, short speeches from village council and1st post commander, citizens president, L Chollen, welcome address by VG post commander Yanchu and special song by CTS unit.
