Along graces ‘sales day’ in New Delhi

Minister for higher education and tribal affairs, Temjen Imna Along graced the “sales day” of fresh fruits and vegetables including dried vegetables and pickles at Nagaland House Lawn, New Delhi on March 3.

According to PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, Kuolie Mere, the chief guest was accompanied by advisor for technical education and elections Medo Yokha. 
While declaring the sales day open to the public, the minister in his address thanked the government of India for operationalising the cargo bay at Dimapur airport, which he said would go a long way in alleviating the economic needs of the state.
He said that “naturally Nagaland” initiatives had become possible due to the leadership of the chief minister and the deputy chief minister.
Along also appreciated the efforts put in by Horticulture department led by advisor Mhathung Yanthan and the team of officers and staff of Nagaland House, New Delhi, for making the venture a success.
He further challenged entrepreneurs of the state to flood Delhi with naturally grown vegetables, fruits and other horticulture products by utilising the cargo facilities.
The first day of the two-day event saw a huge response from citizens of Delhi including people from the North East. Out of 30 varieties of items, around 20 were sold out in a few hours of the inauguration.
PRO stated that due to high demand, rationing had to be carried out for more than 10 items such as pineapple, pumpkins, lemongrass, squash (chowchow), passion fruit, anishi, green leaves, banana inflorescence, king chilli and bitter eggplant.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by DRC, Nagaland House, Kethosituo Sekhose.
