DMC, CMAL hold candlelight vigil for civilians in Myanmar

Dimapur Meetei Council (DMC) and Chumoukedima Meetei Apunba Lup (CMAL) jointly held a mass candle light vigil programme at Meetei Mandop, Manipuri Colony and marched till Tinali Junction, Chatteswary Colony, Dimapur on March 10, to express its solidarity with the Meeteis in particular and all innocent civilians living in Myanmar on the prevailing turmoil after the Military junta forcefully seized all power over the democratically-elected government.

In a press release issued by Dimapur Meetei Council stated that itstands with the people of Myanmar and they will continue to support the peoples’ aspirations for the restoration of peace in Myanmar. It also called for full humanitarian access to support the most vulnerable civilians and protestors at this juncture of Myanmar.
The two bodies appealed the government of India, especially the bordering states government such as Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram to raise voice and shun violence.
DMC and CMAL further offeredits heartfelt condolences for the loss of precious lives, killed by Junta Military and appealed the junta military and police to exercise utmost restraint and respect human rights and international law.
