
PANEL OF JUDGES TO INSPECT COLONIES EVERY WEEK
Panel of judges under the aegis of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for A Better Dimapur initiative of “cleanest colony competition 2021” held its meeting on April 19.
In a press release, convenor & EAC (sardar) Nukshi Matong and member secretary & vice president Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) Sentimeren Pongen stated that in the meeting, the house resolved and decided to start inspection of every colony under DMC jurisdiction from April 24.
The judges advised colonies under DMC to keep their colony clean and encouraged sanitation committees from every colony to mobilise residents and take active part in the competition and initiate cleanliness drive from time to time.
The team also appealed to the public “to maintain civic sense and have a community mindset not for money or prize but for a better Dimapur”.
This year, the colonies would be judged on ten criteria: garbage management; drainage management; burning of waste; community toilet; community participation; sanitation committee activities; jungle/foliage clearance; tobacco free zone; construction & demolition waste not littered/obstructing traffic or general public and clearance of Residential sanitation Tax (RST) up to date.
Under DMC, out of 23 wards there are 73 small colonies and 22 large colonies. There will be no elimination round and colonies would be given points every month.
The release informed that prizes for winning colonies were: Rs. 1, 00000 (winner), Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 for 1st and 2nd runner up respectively for both small and big colony categories.
Meanwhile, prizes of Rs. 10000 respectively would also be given to both small and big colonies.
The judges will comprise of Nukshi Matong as convenor and Sentimeren Pongen as member secretary, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur vice president Vimeno Angami, GBs Union Dimapur general secretary Onen Jamir, Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation general secretary Zasi Zakiesato and Naga Council Dimapur joint secretary Gangangpou.
The panel of judges also decided to inspect colonies every week.
