Bayavü Area Panchayat (BAP) Kohima conducted mass social work on March 13, under the banner “Say no to Plastic”, under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) Nagaland.
A press release by BAP stated that drainage, roads connecting the highways and paths within colony area were cleaned, giving priority to cleaning plastic wastes.
Bayavü Area Panchayat has requested the residents to avoid use of single use plastic, while if unavoidable, it urged to make proper disposal.
The panchayat also requested the residents and visitors not to double park vehicles within the area and to keep contact numbers on dashboard when parked along colony road.
It further informed that it would soon install no parking signs along the roads in the colony where residents and visitors would follow the regulations and defaulters would be imposed with monetary penalties.
