Special outreach programme at Hakchang village, Tuensang

Special Outreach Programme (SOP) 3rd quarter second  phase was organised by directorate of Field Publicity Ministry of I&B on January 16 at community hall, Hakchang village, Tuensang with EAC Tuensang, Tshelhi-ü as the chief guest.
According to DIPR report, the programme emphasised on “Beti Bachao Beti Phadhao” and “Swacchata Abhiyaan”.
In a keynote address, FPO, Tuensang, Lhouzotuo Casavi, highlighted the directive issued by the Ministry of I&B to conduct “beti bachao beti pahdao” outreach programme especially on Hakchang village on account of the decline in sex ratio to 85%.
In his short speech, DCPO Tuensang, N S khaki, exhorted the gathering using statistical data of the declining sex ratio.
Highlighting the possible causes of the declining status of sex ratio in India, he briefed those gathered on the problems of female discrimination, female child foeticide also the importance of female child education and female health care to uplift the female status in the society.
PHED junior engineer, P. Ngaman speaking on “Swacchata Abhiyan” highlighted the necessary components for successful implementation of the programme.
He stressed on issues including the use of safe drinking water, sanitary toilet, personal hygiene and open defecation and its related diseases.
Summing the speeches of the resources persons, the chief guest, Tshelhi-ü,  enlightened the gathering to get maximum benefit from the programme. “Work more and get our district enlisted as an open defecation free district in state,” she added.
Council members, student leaders, church leaders of the village attended the programme.
