
Deputy chief minister & minister in-charge for NPWD (road & bridges) Y Patton, virtually inaugurated both the Tsuyi and Tsui RCC T-beam bridges under Zunheboto district on May 1 at the conference hall of chief engineer (road and bridges) office, NPWD Kohima.
A press release through the Dy. CM media cell stated that during the inaugural programme, Patton stated that the two bridge projects were sanctioned by the government of India, ministry of road transport and highways under economic importance scheme during August 2017 while construction works began on December 2018.
He said that completion of the bridges was delayed due to the lockdown in 2020.
Deputy CM said that both the bridges were the life line of many villages while also connecting to the district headquarters.
He expressed hope that with the completion of both bridges, the area would be economically benefited through trade and commerce.
He informed that Tsuyi bridge was located on Pughoboto-Asukiqa road and provided connectivity to nearby habitations such as Natsumi, Asukiqa, Ghokimi, Kitami, Tsaphimi and Puneboqa villages and Tsui bridge is located on Kijumetouma to Ghathashi road which passed through Ghathashi, Iphonumi, Mukalimi and Hebolimi villages.
Patton acknowledged the cooperation fropm citizens of the villages during the construction period and congratulated the contractors of the bridges, M/s vertex constructions and M/s multi builders for successfully completing the works.
Further Patton extended his gratitude to Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA for his concern and initiative for improvement of road infrastructure in the area.
On virtual video conference, Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA acknowledged the deputy chief minister for his intervention and initiative for timely completion of the bridges despite the COVID-19 situation.
The virtual conference was chaired by principal secretary works and housing NPWD, while technical report was presented from NPWD, chief engineer office (road and bridges).
Total of Rs. 6.38 crore was sanctioned for Tsuyi bridge in August 2017 along Pughoboto-Asukiqa road and provides connectivity of nearby habitation.
The construction of the bridge commenced on December 1, 2018 and completed on March 30, 2021. M/s Vertex construction carried out the construction works.
Meanwhile, a total of Rs. 6.90 crore was sanctioned for Tsui bridge in August 2017 over Tsui river (21m span) between Ghathashi and Hebolimi under Economic Importance (EI).
The construction of the bridge commenced in December 1, 2018 and completed in March 28, 2021. M/S multi builders carried out the construction works.
Tsui bridge is located along the Kijumetouma to Ghathashi road. The road passes through Ghathashi, Iphonumi, Mukalimi and Hebolimi which also connects to Kohima and Chozuba.
