Tseminyu Union alleges multi-crore scam; demands probe

Alleging "multi-crore rupee scam" under the two-lane road project in Kohima district, Tseminyu Union (TU) has demanded immediate setting up of an independent inquiry committee to verify the road project within a period of one month.

In a statement, TU president H Kegwalo Tep alleged that as per the list of damage compensation of Kohima district in the strengthening and widening work of two-lane road with paved shoulder of NH-2 from 40/000 km to 72/400 km under EPC mode, huge amount of money were paid against unaffected buildings and also against many government properties to few individuals. It also alleged that enormous amount was also paid against many ghost building, depriving genuine beneficiaries.

Demanding disciplinary action against erring officials and individuals involved in the alleged scam, TU threatened to take its own course of action if the authority responsible failed to constitute an independent inquiry committee within a stipulated time period.
