KDLSA organises seminar on rights

One day seminar on the topic, “violation of human rights” was organised by Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) on March 24 at conference hall, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiphire.

A press release by KDLSA stated that speaking on the topic, officiating principal of Zisaji Presidency College Kiphire, Dr. Purna Chandra Mishra pointed out that sometimes mental and physical torture while in police custody goes “beyond the limit” which leads to serious unwanted consequences.

Stating that deaths under police custody are increasing ever year, Dr. Mishra said this highlights the violation of human rights. He suggested police department to take all precautions while dealing with the accused person under their custody.  Dr, Mishra also deliberated on issues such as violation of right to education and gender discrimination; violation of right to property, right to equal opportunity for employment and right to get wage for equal work. KDLSA P/Lawyer, Kunyangli Sangtam while speaking on the “rights of arrested person” highlighted the Section 50 (2) of CrPC.  Altogether 65 participants including the police officers attended the seminar.
