
Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) held its annual general meet here on Saturday at town hall, super market, Dimapur.
In his speech, chief guest of the programme, DMC administrator, Albert Ezung stressed on the importance of community participation for all round development and peaceful coexistence.
Ezung maintained that DUCCF being one among the prominent frontal organisations in Dimapur was the reason why Dimapur had a success story to tell with regard to the pandemic.
He added that it was during troubled times that leaders emerge and lauded DUCCF for their support and cooperation towards DMC during the pandemic.
He added that with the support of DUCCF, DMC was able to discharge its duties successfully.
Maintaining that quality of leadership was crucial for positive transmission in a society, he urged upon DUCCF leaders to select the next leaders who could carry the legacy forward.
Asserting on the importance of leaders at grassroots level, Ezung observed that leadership at community level was very important and when the grassroots level do not function well, the society would not go forward.
Ezung further admired the peaceful coexistence of different communities in Dimapur, be it Naga or non Naga. He urged upon the gathering to maintain the same and to do away with the evil practices of tribalism and hatred.
Stressing that Dimapur was among the fastest growing city in the Northeast, Ezung expressed concern over the increase in population which not led to rapid urbanisation and posed problems, resulting in limitation of resources.
He later urged the gathering to continue providing community participation for an all round development.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Zanghei Elunglung and invocation by director and pastor, Divine Harvest, Rev. Dilip Singh.
Songs were also presented by Naga Hindi singer, NK Naga while Dreamz Unlimited performed for the gathering.
Presidential address was delivered by DUCCF president, Tsenthungo Nyamo who also handed out prizes and certificates to winners of inter colony drawing and poem competition.
