Assam Rifles conduct various civic action programmes

Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) has conducted various activities for public as part of its civic action programme across Nagaland. 
Medziphema Battalion: Medziphema Battalion organised a veterinary camp along with team of 14 mobile field veterinary hospital at Kuhuboto, Dimapur on January 3. According to PRO, around 768 domestic animals were examined by the veterinary team. Necessary medicines were also distributed to owners. 
Chieswema Battalion: Chieswema Battalion organized an interaction programme with GBs and VCCs of Pfutseromi, Razieba, Zuketsa, Lessumi and Zapami villages under Pfutsero sub-division on January 3. According to PRO, during the interaction, it was discussed and jointly resolved that the local population would support and assist troops of Chieswema battalion in the event of their conduct of military duties. The members also agreed to work in tandem with Assam Rifles for betterment and development while ensuring a congenial environment in and around Pfutsero. 
Zunhebtoto Battalion BS&G: Zunhebhoto Battalion of 5 Assam Rifles flagged off the tour of Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) unit of Zunheboto district to Kohima on December 14. According to 5 Assam Rifles, 25 Scouts & Guides travelled to Kohima to attend their golden jubilee celebrations on December 14. Commandant Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles, Colonel K Debendra in presence of officials of Assam Rifles and Bharat Scouts and Guides Zunheboto flagged off the team. 
Zunheboto Battalion: Zunheboto Batallion of Assam Rifles carried out cleanliness drive and awareness programmes at various locations at Zunheboto in order to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on December 14. Approximately 150 troops and 30 Bharat Scouts & Guides from Zunheboto district attended the drive.  
Mon Battalion: To acquaint youth with various avenues of joining Indian Army/Assam Rifles, Mon Battalion conducted “seminar on career guidance” on December 28 at council hall, Mon town. According to PRO, the aim of the seminar was to motivate youth and to create awareness about various avenues of joining Army/Assam Rifles and how to prepare for NDA and CDS examination. The programme was attended by 46 youths.  In addition to guidance on career counseling, weapon and equipment display was also organised during the event.    
Tuensang Battalion musical equipment: Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles presented bagpipes and drums to Bharat Scouts and Guides (BS&G) unit, Tuensang on December 18. According to PRO HQ IGAR (North), the aim of the programme was to provide quality musical equipment for improvement of drill, encourage volunteers of Bharat Scouts and Guides and to assist them in developing their skills so that the band would be a useful resource to the villagers and local administration.
Tizit Battalion: Tizit Battalion conducted a lecture on “government welfare schemes” at Tuimei on December 24 with an aim to create awareness among the locals about various government welfare schemes being undertaken. Altogether 70 villagers attended the lecture.
Jalukie Battalion: Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted interaction with GBs at Athibung, Peren on December 14. According to officiating PRO, HQ IGAR (North), Lt Col Angshuman Chakrabarti, the aim of the event was to carry out discussions on various issues like drug abuse, HIV and AIDS, village cleanliness, sanitation and importance of education. The interaction was followed by lunch for all the attendees.
Dimapur Battalion: Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on how to join armed forces at Purana Bazar, Dimapur on December 19 with an aim to educate the villagers on different types of entries to armed forces and condition of service. The lecture was attended by one GB, two chairmen and twelve villagers.
32 Assam Rifles: 32 Assam Rifles conducted an interaction with GBs and chairman of Diphupar village on December 11 with an aim to enhance cooperation with GBs and improve liaison with the Assam Rifles. A total of two GBs, one chairman and five village councilors attended the programme.
Chieswema Battalion: Chieswema Batallion of Assam Rifles organised lecture on “drug menace and prevention of HIV & AIDS” at Chizami village  on December 19 with an aim to raise awareness on ill effects of drugs on human body, its negative consequences on individual as well as society and prevention of HIV/AIDS as a whole.
 22nd Battalion: Review camp for the disabled (PwDs) was held at Phek on December 7 at 22nd Battalion, Assam Rifles camp. Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Phek deputy commissioner (DC), Shanavas called upon the differently-abled persons to avail opportunity where treatment was given free of cost. He also gave away cash incentives to all the differently-abled. Doctors who gave treatments were medical officer, 22nd AR Dr. Balmuri Avanish, senior specialist (ortho) Dr. K. Kuotsu, junior specialist (general surgery) Shevosa Vese and junior specialist (psychiatry), Dr. Senilu Magh. About 100 patients were treated during the programme.
Wokha Battalion: Wokha battalion Assam Rifles organised a debate competition on “drug free Nagaland” at Koio village, Chukitong on December 20. According to PRO, the aim of the event was to bring awareness about the ill effects and consequences of drug addiction. Nine local youths participated and the event was attended by 20 others.
Tizit Battalion: Tizit battalion of Assam Rifles organised a veterinary camp at Tizit Government Primary School on December 19. According to PRO, the aim of the camp was to conduct health check-up and to treat live stocks. 847 live stocks were treated and provided medicines free of cost. 
Jalukie battalion: Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) conducted an interaction with GBs at Athibung, Peren on December 25.  The aim of the interaction was exchange of information on assistances being provided by Assam Rifles. Nine GBs attended the interaction. The interaction was followed by lunch for all the attendees.
Kiphire Battalion: Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles organised lecture on “career counselling” at Akhegwo village on December 14. According to PRO, the event focused on providing information on fields and opportunities on completion of higher education including civil administration. 30 youths of Akhegwo village attended the lecture.
