ATMA conducts training programmes for farmers

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Ongpangkong North block, Mokokchung conducted two-day training and demonstration programme on May 22 and 24 at Mokokchung village.

ATMA Mokokchung, BTM Watisenla Imchen stated that a training programme on management of FAW was conducted on May 22 at Mokokchung village. Resource person ATM, Tsuktirenla S Jamir discussed about the occurrence and spread of the pest. She stressed on how it could cause damage to crops and reduce yield which could directly impact the livelihood of farmers.

Altogether, 15 farmers attended the training programme where bio-pesticides were distributed.

A demonstration programme on integrated pest management was also conducted at Mokokchung village, where ATM Lanusanen I Jamir highlighted on careful evaluation of each pest infestation and understanding the lifecycle of pests, possible damage, natural enemies etc before implementing a control plan.

Mechanical management of pest such as preparation and setting up of yellow sticky traps and pheromone traps were also demonstrated to the participants.

A training programme on jhum field management was conducted on May 24 at Mokokchung village. 

During the programme, resource person, ATM Tsuktirenla S Jamir spoke on the management of jhum field, pests, diseases and organic management. She also highlighted the effects of pests and diseases in jhum field.

Inputs like neem oil, roban and bio-pesticides were distributed to the farmers. Altogether, 15 farmers attended the training programme.
