NMDA urges chemists not to sell items above MRP

Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA) has urged all its members not to sell COVID related medicines and medical and surgical equipments at more than its maximum retail price (MRP). NMDA joint secretary and media convenor Arijit Sharma said that an unprecedented surge in demand of some crucial medicines used in treating Covid patients has created panic. NMDA has, therefore, urged its members to charge nominal to the patients and general public and consider it as a noble service. 

NMDA also advised its members not to indulge in any malpractices or unethical activities leading to selling of COVID related medicines and surgical items. 

It further informed that no unauthorized person would be allowed to search or check any pharmacies in the name of surveillance and trying to harass any if its members. NDMA urged the Drug control department to take strict actions against those people dealing in medicines and surgical products without drug license and proper documentation taking the advantage of the prevailing conditions.

Meanwhile, NMDA has lauded the efforts put in by medicine wholesalers and retailers for those who were working day and night and ensuring availability of medicines especially of chronic disease and life saving drugs.
