District hospitals can’t be sealed even if staff test positive for Covid, says PD

Taking note of reports of some district hospitals (DHs) being sealed after some staff tested positive for Covid-19, Health department (H&FW) principal director (PD) Dr Neikhrielie Khimiao has decreed that no district hospital can be sealed even if any of its staff tests positive.

Speaking to Nagaland Post, PD said in the event of any staff of a DH testing positive, the team should work out a mechanism to handle the situation so that the hospital remained functional and not completely sealed.

As medical professionals, he said the staff should know how to take care of themselves and should consult senior officials of the department, if necessary, adding one should not let down the morale of the people in such a situation.

Pointing out that managing the situation wrongly by the medical professionals would not go down well with the common man, he reiterated that no district hospital should be sealed in any given situation.
