Three-day Khensa Students’ Union (KSU) 75 years celebration commenced on December 29 at Multipurpose Community Hall under the theme “progress in harmony”.
Director Food and Civil Supply, Kohima, Asangla Imti graced the inaugural event. She said that jubilee was a time to appreciate the past, celebrate the present and aspire the future. She exhorted that they should be able to showcase their achievements, past and current and sought to bring out the best in the future. “It is time to reflect whether we are preserving our rich heritage and are enhancing our image or whether there have been detritions,” she stated.
In his speech, Khensa Village Council, chairman, Y. Chuba Longchar challenged the gathering to look back to the past 75 years and recount the blessings from God, while encouraging them to seek the knowledge and guidance from pioneers.
DIET Mokokchung principal, Tianaro Jamir also urged students to be more united and prayerful and said that the village should be their foremost priority.
“It is your identity. There should be a sense of belongingness and pride about one’s own village”, she stated.
As part of the celebration, KSU also organized a medical camp on December 29 at GMS Khensa. Altogether 250 people availed medical aid and 150 undertook blood test. Convener of the medical camp, Dr. Alemba R Jamir, MD (Medicine) stressed on the need to spread health awareness amongst villagers and suggested health programmes and medical camps involving students. He also highlighted the importance of involving churched and educational institutions for spreading health awareness.
The medical team included seven doctors assisted by 25 health workers. On December 30, minster of Health and Family Welfare, Imkong L. Imchen will deliver the exhortation while Kohima College principal, Dr. Watijungshi will be the main speaker.
