Patton calls for public cooperation to fight Covid-19

State deputy chief minister Y Patton has called upon all to cooperate and work together to fight Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a dedication programme of an ambulance donated by his family at chief medical officer’s (CMO) office here on Thursday, he said Dimapur had a high Covid-19 positive rate compared to other districts in the State. 

“And in order to tackle this, we all need to work together. We are all affected by the pandemic, so a united fight is essential,” he stressed.

Pointing out how during this trying times many individuals and organisations were continuing to come forward and assist in the fight against the pandemic, which had fuelled much hope, Patton encouraged all to take inspiration from one another, support each other in whatever way possible, follow protocols and remind themselves that “this too shall pass”.

He said his family was donating the ambulance to District Hospital, Dimapur (DHD) in response to a request by Dimapur District Task Force (DTF). He hoped that the ambulance would be utilised during health emergencies by all and many precious lives saved. 

Lauding frontline workers in the fight against the pandemic, Patton expressed his gratefulness to doctors, nurses and all the frontline workers for their selfless sacrifice in the service to humanity in these trying and difficult times.

He also appreciated Dimapur district nodal officer Y Kikheto Sema for highlighting the needs of Dimapur DTF and DHD.

He handed over keys of the ambulance to CMO Dimapur, Dr I Moatemjen on the occasion.

On behalf of DTF and Team Dimapur, Kikheto acknowledged and appreciated the kind gesture of the deputy chief minister and said that the ambulance was the need of the hour for the people of Dimapur.

Delivering vote of thanks, the CMO remarked that the ambulance would be a big asset for the hospital and the people of Dimapur. He hoped that with team spirit, the pandemic would be overcome.

The program was chaired by deputy CMO Dimapur, Dr Antoly Suu.
