
Longsa Eagle Club (LCB) celebrated their golden jubilee under the theme, “Molushidi” (refinement) on Friday at Salang Lenden, Longsa.
DIGP (R/Battalion), Mokokchung, Ngangshimakok graced the celebration as chief guest and additional director of Fisheries, Rongsennungba was the guest of honour.
The chief guest lauded and paid tributes to founding members of the club and congratulated present club members for emulating the vision of its founders, by donating blood at the district hospital (IMDH) apart from promoting excellence in the field of education, games and sports and in the economic, social and political spheres.
He called upon both the present and future members of the club to adopt a positive overview to keep pace with the ever advancing world.
Rongsennungba in his speech also lauded the club for having produced various prominent and distinguished personalities, not only for the village but for the state, in various fields. He called on the club to take serious initiatives towards climate change (which the club had already embarked on) and clean election campaign for a sound environment, peace, unity and development.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by I. Temsu Jamir, invocation was done by LBC pastor, K. Supongchiten, vote of thanks by jubilee planning committee convener, L. Bendangwati Pongener and closing ceremony under Moarenla. Short speeches were also delivered by sitting MLA, Merentoshi R. Jamir, village council chairman, I. Meren Pongen and presidents of village clubs, Lions Club, Salang Club and Citizens club. Welcome address was delivered by Longsa Eagle Club president Lolenbenba, club anthem was sung by Eaglians while a special song was presented by Jamiyinla Jamir. The golden jubilee souvenir was released by the chief guest under the initiative of souvenir committee, convener, K. Nokmarenba.
