Amaluma village celebrates centenary

Amaluma village celebrated its centernary at village play ground attended by Governor of Nagaland, P. B. Acharya as chief guest and Tokheho Yepthomi MLA as guest of honour on December 23. 
A press release by advisor centenary celebration committee and president Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN), Ramesh Hasnu stated that governor in his address while congratulating the people of the village, reminded that India was a secular country where people from all faiths and religions could live together in harmony. 
Referring to Gandhiji’s view on the villages, he said that the strength of India lay in the development of the village. He also said that villages in Nagaland would be developed if each and every MP, ministers, and MLAs would adopt atleast one village every year during his term. Governor further cited that every state in India should be corruption free and that all villages in the state should progress. In order to maintain health of the children and to learn more about discipline and cleanliness Bal Shiksha Kendra should also be established in the villages because children were the future leaders of the country, he added. He encouraged the youths to prefer skill development trainings more than conventional degrees of education. Governor also unveiled the monolith in commemoration of the centenary. 
Tokheho Yepthomi while greeting the people on the occasion expressed that the completion of 100 years of the Amaluma village was itself an achievement and its centenary celebration a historic event. He also released the souvenir published in commemoration of the centenary.
In his welcome addressed Rakesh Hasnu enlightened the gathering on the achievements and progress made by the village in various fields especially in literacy and education. He also stated that, the village people were mostly farmers and self sufficient in terms of production. A brief history of Amaluma village was illustrated by the convener of the celebration committee, Thangnodao Naiding. Johon Jidung the village council chairman and also the co-convener of the celebration committee invoked God’s blessing in the function.
In his short speech, Kumar Naben, president, Dimasa Public Organization, Nagaland (DPON) appreciated the villagers for pioneering work in celebrating the centenary which the other Dimasa villages had not done though have completed more than hundred years of village establishment. L. Khevishe Achumi the vice president of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), reminded about the age old harmonious relation between the Sumi and Kachari communities. S. K. Khemprai, advisor to KTCN, expressed dissatisfaction over the slow growth of development particularly in the field of education, health, agriculture and water supply due to non availability or insufficient provision of governmental facilities in Dhansiripar sub-division in which the Amaluma village falls.
Benediction prayer was offered by Satyalal Thaosen GB of the village and vote of thanks by Ramesh Hasnu.
