National People’s Party (NPP) state unit has taken umbrage to erstwhile ACAUT chairman and newly-formed Rising People’s Party (RPP) leader Joel Naga bracketing all political parties and accusing them of using money power to win elections.
Expressing its disappointment at the blanket statement made by Naga, NPP Nagaland unit in a rejoinder clarified that while it appreciated and congratulated him, it did not take well his remark that his party would “fight the elections on issues, while other political parties will use money power to win the elections”.
The party asserted that it was wrong to blindly brand all political parties under one umbrella by accusing them of winning election with money power.
According to NPP Nagaland, every political party should realise that the public has had enough and opened their eyes widely now during the Covid-19 crisis and cannot be taken for a ride any more. It pointed out that the people were aware and well-informed about ideologies of various political parties and their moves, which they were monitoring very closely.
“We only hope the RPP leader will have enough credibility to support all his lofty false promises. So, before rising and fizzling out like popcorn or carbonated soda, NPP advises Joel Naga to make appropriate statement,” the rejoinder added.
The party reminded Naga that since its inception it had always stood for the people, integrity and on ideology.
Claiming that it always believed and worked on the motto “One Voice, One Northeast”, NPP said maintaining political transparency and accountability were its utmost priority.
The party said it also took pride in promoting women, young talents and giving importance to young leaders like Agatha K Sangma, who is a lone woman member of Lok Sabha from the Northeast, and Dr Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, a young articulated member of Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya.
NPP also claimed that it always took a stand on issues of the Northeast and tribal welfare, of which the people were witness.
