Rengma Hoho and Rengma Selo Zi have taken strong exception to reports of certain elements disturbing officials and labourers involved in the ongoing NH-2 widening work under Tseminyu Sub-division. In a joint statement, Rengma Hoho president Kenyuseng Tep and Rengma Selo Zi president Kenneth Kath said the act had created both fear psychosis among the workers and tension in the area, thereby slowing down the pace of work. RH and RSZ appealed to all individuals, organisations and such elements to refrain from such an act. Pointing out that the ongoing widening of National Highway was a long-pending demand of Rengma community, Rengma Hoho and Rengma Selo Zi warned that in the event of any element trying to create any situation by way of threatening, extorting, etc, the Rengma community at large would take it as a direct challenge to efforts of the people in ushering development in the area. Asserting that the Rengmas would not tolerate any such act to sabotage development in the area, both the organisations also warned that anyone violating their diktat would be dealt with strictly. They also wished a happy and safe festive journey to all commuters.
